E book Users Group

Wednesday, February 1 has been designated as National Digital Learning Day.  There will be nationwide activities centering around digital media.  On that day,  the Plum Lake Library will be holding it's first "E book Users Group". Anyone with a kindle or nook is encouraged to attend and share your knowledge, ideas and frustrations about the new e book technology.  Together we will learn the ins and outs of downloadable audio books, whether free or purchased.  Program time is 2:00 PM.  Future dates will be set based on interest and participation.  Everyone is welcome

Tax Preparation Assistance

AARP tax service will be available beginning February 9th and continuing through April 12th. Tax Preparation Assistance will be available every Thursday mornings by appointment only. A representative from AARP will be on hand to assist taxpayers with low to middle income, with preference given to senior citizens. Make an appointment by calling the library at 715-542-2020.

Wisconsin Collection

One of the most interesting collections in the library is the Wisconsin collection.  It is located just inside the library entrance to the left.  In this collection you will find many books by local authors such as Leon ”Buckshot” Anderson ,Tony Rizzo, Cel Ellerman, John Bates, Tom Hollatz,, Mike Bachmann and Joyce Laabs.  There are also many excellent historical books about the logging industry in the Northwoods along with many interesting books about the history and land of the state of Wisconsin.  Our latest addition is “Filler Up: The Glory Days of Wisconsin Gas Stations”. Other titles include: ”Foods That Made Wisconsin Famous” and the “Wisconsin Valley Line” one of the many railroad books in the collection. There is something for everyone. Stop by and check it out soon.

It includes escerpts from Warwich Woods, the former girls camp on Plum Lake and life on the three islands on Plum Lake, The book is available for in-library viewing only.
