New hats, gloves, socks or clothing items are also accepted.  For the Vilas Food Pantry, non-perishable food items are needed.  We can work together to clear up your records and help our community. The library has an excellent collection of holiday craft books, cookbooks and holiday stories for all ages. Special Events 2008:

Ida Nemec, Plum Lake librarian for 30 years, is featured in a Lakeland Times article. Click here to read the article.

The Plum Lake Public Library honored two volunteers at the recent annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner.

Special recognition was given to Fay Sandman for 34 years of volunteer service.  She has seen the library go through many changes during that time, beginning with a little hole-in-the-wall in the school basement to its present facility on Main Street.

Also given special honors was Peter Gilbert, a junior at Northland Pines high School, who has been a dedicated volunteer at the Plum Lake library since he was in fourth grade.  He continues his volunteer service by supervising the current Junior Library program.
