Local author and artist Tamara Lauder’s inspirational pictorial book, Breaking Free Too: Taking a Flight With a Butterfly Toward Self-Discovery, addresses the universal experiences of life’s challenges, change, and the search to find greater fulfillment in life.

Breaking Free Too: Taking a Flight With a Butterfly Toward Self-Discovery is a reflective, colorful book using the butterfly as a metaphor. While simple and creative, it is written to stimulate in-depth self-reflection and discussion about discovering one’s true self. Using nineteen pieces of symbolic artwork along with interpretative titles and text, it addresses the influences in life that affect how we see ourselves and the decisions we make, the obstacles we face, and the help available to us. It is a book of awareness, intended to stimulate you to ask and answer difficult questions for yourself, with the goal of breaking free from what binds you and finding greater personal fulfillment.

Tamara’s life took her from the Midwest to coast to coast and blessed her with a diversity of experiences, yet her unyielding passion for art motivated her to change course in life and follow her dreams. Tamara now lives in the Northwoods of Wisconsin and works as a professional artist. She spends the majority of her time in pottery and printmaking, but also writes and creates artforms using other mediums. Tamara has published numerous articles and informational contributions. She now writes creative non-fiction and also enjoys including inspirational and informational writings with her pottery and two-dimensional pieces of art. Her love of the outdoors and her favorite activities of biking, running, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing are the creative catalysts for her work.

“My art is a reflection of my life experiences and evolves over time. Creating is my passion, and I hope that it brings others as much joy as it gives me to create it.”
